Schools

We offer a whole range of Drama, arts and crafts workshops. Below is information about the workshop that could be used in a variety of educational settings. Please see the other pages for curriculum linked workshops and after school drama clubs.

We offer a variety of two hour workshops for your class or group which can cover just about any theme and work in conjunction with your curriculum studies or can simply be used as a treat for your class. The themed workshops can result in a short performance suitable for use in an assembly or as a demonstration for parents. Below is a list of workshops we have provided in the past which can be booked or used to give you ideas for your group. These workshops can be combined with a half day mask making workshop to enhance the final performance. If you have any questions or ideas about how to use these sessions or would like to make a booking please contact us.

Play ground games

What do you see when your class or group head out into the playground, children sat texting on their phones, and playing with handheld video games. Well it might not be quite that bad but it’s almost certainly not a yard full of children playing together. We can help you change this with our Play ground games workshop. The session covers a variety of playground games from traditional games such as ‘what time is it Mr Wolf’ and ‘chuck stones’ to more modern games such as ‘international freeze tag’ and ‘tag rugby’. This workshop does not result in a performance but the group will receive a cue card to help at the end of the session to help them remember and use what they have learnt with the rest of the children in the yard.

This is a two hour session for up to 30 people. That group could be made up of one class, or maybe some members of your schools buddy system or even a combination of older students and your dinner supervisors. The session can be conducted in your school hall or weather permitting in your yard space, and requires the teacher or other suitable adult to be present through out for health and safety reason.

Christmas workshop

Are you looking for a treat for your class or group in the lead up to Christmas then this is the workshop for you. During the two hour session we will work with your group on activities based around the traditional poem ‘The night before Christmas’ by Clement Clarke Moore. The work includes working with various dramatic styles to bring this poem to life. This work will generate a short performance suitable for an assembly or a performance in front of parents and staff.

Safari

During this session we will work with your group looking at the different movement styles and rhythms of three different jungle animals (for example lions, elephants and parrots). After a short warm up we will divide the group into three where each group will work on movement style pieces based on their individual animal. These pieces then fit together to create a jungle based movement performance which is suit able for performance in front of parents or in an assembly.

Insects and mini beasts

This session will look at the wide variety of different mini beasts and insects in the animal kingdom and look at the way they move individually and in groups to create a movement/dance piece which fits to music. The half day mask making session will considerably enhance the final performance of the finished piece although even with out the masks the piece created is suitable for performance in front of both parents and assemblies.

Book week

Is your school looking for a different way to celebrate the characters and stories from your favourite books, or even your book of choice for world book day? We can provide a two hour session based around your book or poem of choice. All we ask is that you inform us of your book choice at least two weeks in advance. The workshop will look at re-creating images and playing out scenes from the book. This session will result in the generation of a short piece of dramatic performance suitable for parents of other children.

Fairytales

This is a two hour workshop which can be extended to fill a school day. We use the allotted time to help your groups bring to life their favourite traditional fairy tale. They will start slowly but creating still images and carefully bring them to life to form a short and entirely devised version of the chosen story. The longer we have to work the more complete the final piece will be but regardless of the time the groups will have a performance suitable for any audience.

Play in a day

This is the perfect solution to your assembly nightmares. Whether you’re looking for a leaver’s assembly, your class assembly or a way to fill a day as a treat or during a holiday this simple tale about dreams and duty will fit the bill. There are a variety of roles for your group members ranging from large speaking role right through to physical chorus roles which require little or no speaking. We will bring a selection of basic props and costumes to enhance the final performance on the day; these will be available for a small hire charge if you wish to use them at a later date.

Story creation

Are you looking for a different way to introduce your class or group to the different aspects of story creation? Then this is what you need. Over the course of anywhere between two and ten hours, maybe once a week over five weeks, we will help your group construct a completely original story, with detailed characters, plots and obstacles, hero’s and villains, as well as giving them a good understanding of the importance of all the different aspects of the story creation. We have a variety of different methods for constructing a story so regardless of the age or ability of your group we can find a way to create the story they want to tell.
