The Canny Space New Writing Festival

Join us at The Canny Space (the former Holy Trinity Church, in the East End of Sunderland) for a celebration of New Writing.

We’ve challenged several local writers to create pieces of new writing – plays, spoken word, poetry and prose – inspired by the venue and they have provided 14 new pieces and counting!

These will be scheduled across the 18th and 19th October between 11 and 4 each day.

If that wasn’t enough we’ll bring you acoustic music, craft and makers market, food and workshops so you can fill you day with us.

Entry to the event its free, but there is a charge to see the new writing pieces. Ticket details will follow as the pieces are confirmed and can be bought individually or as a weekend pass so you can see everything you want too!

Full weekend tickets, meaning you can access EVERY performance, all weekend, are £15 or individual shows are just £4.

If you live in in SR1 or SR2 you can get tickets half price thanks to the support of the the East Area Committee.

You’ll be able to buy tickets via ticket source shortly but you’ll be able to by them on the door.

This event is supported by the East Area Committee  and Sunderland City Council and is in association with The Canny Space and The Churches Conservation Trust.
