This modern verse translation brings the classic treacherous tale up to date with familiar up to date language by the acclaimed Lisa Peterson as part of our long standing relationship with Oregon’s Play On Shakespeare. Taking over the stunningly refurbished Holy Trinity Chruch, now 17Nineteen in Sunderland’s Historic East End, Theatre Space is delighted to be returning after the hugely popular Girl in the Machine premiered there earlier this year.
A ghostly King of Denmark charges the prince with avenging his death by killing the new king, Hamlet’s uncle. Feigning madness and contemplating life and death, this deliciously dark adaptation culminates in a thrilling duel and fight for survival.
As always our Summer of Shakespeare is FREE to attend, but tickets for Hamlet must be reserved in advance. Don’t miss out on our triumphant return to full scale performances following our record breaking pandemic productions in 2020 and 2021.
