Theatre Space Academy: A Creative Space for Young Performers (Ages 12-17)

Welcome to Theatre Space Academy!

A Creative Space for Young Performers (Ages 12-17)

Are you looking for a place to explore your creativity, make new friends, and have a blast? Theatre Space Academy is your stage. We’re a vibrant youth theatre group based at The Royalty Theatre in Sunderland (25 The Royalty, Sunderland SR2 7PP), meeting every Thursday from 6pm-7:30pm during term time. Sessions cost £5.

Why Join Us?

At Theatre Space Academy, we offer a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people can:

🎭 Build confidence and express themselves.

🎨 Learn theatre skills like acting, costume and set design, sound, and lighting.

🤝 Make lasting friendships and work as part of a team.

Every term brings a new adventure - from skills-based workshops to full-scale productions, we cover a range of exciting theatre practices. And of course, there’s always time for games and team-building fun!

This Term: Character studies

We will be looking at what goes into creating a character on stage. We’ll be using the text of a play as a starting point then use research, music, body language, facial expression etc. to develop characterisation.

Exclusive Opportunities for Members

As part of Theatre Space Academy, you’ll also have the chance to audition for Theatre Space's Summer Season of Shakespeare and other professional productions. It’s a brilliant way to showcase your talent and work alongside seasoned performers.

Join Us!

Our group is growing, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Whether you’re an experienced performer or just curious to try something new, Theatre Space Academy welcomes everyone.
