Are you looking for a place to explore your creativity, make new friends, and have a blast? Theatre Space Academy is your stage. We’re a vibrant youth theatre group based at The Royalty Theatre in Sunderland (25 The Royalty, Sunderland SR2 7PP), meeting every Thursday from 6pm-7:30pm during term time. Sessions cost £5.

Every term brings a new adventure - from skills-based workshops to full-scale productions, we cover a range of exciting theatre practices. And of course, there’s always time for games and team-building fun!
Next Term: National Theatre Connecions Festival 2027
We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as a participant for the Connections Festival; the National Theatre’s annual, nationwide youth theatre festival, which celebrates the creativity and talent of young people across the UK. Each year Connections commissions a selection of brand-new plays for young people to perform, pairing some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. The festival works with over 250 youth companies and more than 6,000 young people annually from every corner of the UK and we are thrilled that Theatre Space Academy will be one of them this year!
This is an incredible opportunity for our young people but it does meant that we require commitment from our members. We will need to know in advance if people can’t make any of the sessions so that we can plan rehearsals accordingly and we will notify parents and carers in advance of all of the non-negotiable dates that will be required for the festival preparations and performances.
We are so excited to be taking part in this incredible festival and can’t wait to showcase the talents of our young people on this National stage!
